What else would I make for Valentine’s Day. This year, I found a good heart-shaped stoneware pan. Lacking anymore culinary creativity, I just resorted to putting my stock chocolate chip cookie recipe inside:

Then I really went nuts and made a recipe of chocolate chocolate chip cookie dough for the pan. Then I would take one of each and glue them together with caramel:

This is officially the most gratuitously sweet cookie I have ever created.
One problem with this idea is that the plain chocolate chip cookies tend to expand during baking more than the chocolate chocolate chip recipe. This makes the hearts somewhat asymmetrical at final assembly.
Another problem was throughput. Since the turnaround time on these large hearts is so long (spray pan, fill it, bake cookie, cool, extract cookie from pan, wash pan, repeat process), I did not turn out too many of them. I used the remainder of both types of cookie dough to make heart-shaped cookies. I squashed a bunch of dough onto a cutting board and put a heart-shaped cookie cutter to it. Here are the plain cookies:

And them I assembled a bunch of hearts with caramel for a stunningly sweet treat:
